Cute Flower Pencil Toppers

Hi, here is a very lovely project for crochet beginners~

Pattern Notes

This is a beginner friendly project. Measurement is not critical in this project.

Just make sure the topper can cover the top of the pencil securely.

I made the tube ( i.e. the stem of the flowers) of the topper with 6dc X 7rounds. So, you could work more dc to make the circumference of the tube bigger. ( or work less to make it smaller ) Also , you could work more rounds to make the tube longer

Materials and Tools

FIne Yarn

White – Petals

Yellow- Flower Centre

Green- Stem

3mm hook

Or whatever works for you , just make sure the topper can hold a pencil.

Ready? Let’s get started!

The Stem

R1 : With the green yarn, MR. On the MR , 4sc ( 4 )

R2:[ 1sc, 1inc ] * 2times (6)

R3:6sc (6)

R4: 6sc (6)

R5:6sc (6)

R6:6sc (6)

R7:6sc (6)

R8:6sl st (6)

Cut off the yarn , hide the loose end.

The Leaf

R1: With the green yarn, MR. On the MR , 4sc ( 4 )

R2:[ 1sc, 1inc ] * 2times (6)

R3:[ 1sc, 1inc ] * 3times (9)

R4:9sc (9)

R5:[ 1sc, 1dec ] * 3times (6)

Leave a long tail before cutting off the yarn.

The Flower Centre

R1: With the yellow yarn ( or any colour of your choice ) , MR. On the MR , 6sc ( 6 )

R2:6inc (12)

R3:[ 1sc, 1inc ] * 6times (18)

R4:In this round, we work on BL only, ( we will crochet petals on the FL later) , 18 BLO sc ( 18 )

R5:[ 1sc, 1dec ] * 6times (12)

R6:6dec (6)

Fasten off. Hide the loose end.

The Petals

Notes: Only 1 round in crocheting the petals. We need to make 6 groups of stitches ( since we have 6 petals). So, I will write the pattern petal by petal instead of rounds.

[Petal 1]
On Round 4 of the cendce , pick a FL of a sc, with White yarn ( or any colour for petals) , 1ch, 1dc

on the next st(i.e. the 2nd st) , 2dc,

on the next st ( i.e. the 3st) , 1dc, 2ch, sl st. << This is one petal.

[Petal 2]

sl st on the next st, 1ch, 1dc,

on the next st, 2dc,

on the next st , 1dc, 2ch, sl st,

This is the 2nd petal .

[Petal 3-6]

rep #2 to make the remaining 4petals.

When the 6th petal is complete, leave a long tail, then cut off the yarn.

Assemble

With the long tails left, sew the leaf and the flower on the stem,

Sometimes, you may find the pieces mis-locate after sewing, so check the piece from time to time when sewing. Do it slowly, enjoy every stitch 🙂

If necessary, add a bit glue to make the flower more secure on the stem.
